acupuncture + east asian medicine
At Reune Medicine we believe that health is not the absence of disease. It is an individual experience and process. While we may focus on physical symptoms, we will also listen to the connections between your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Reune Medicine makes space for your lived experience and offers treatments that encourage your body’s ability to thrive, helping to restore balance, rhythm, and flow to all your systems.
East Asian medicine approaches the body, mind, and spirit as a whole. It considers your whole story, as told by your symptoms and experience, to identify a pattern of disruption or imbalance. It then works to restore balance to the natural flow and rhythms in your body through a variety of treatment forms.
-
acupuncture
Acupuncture involves the use of tiny needles to stimulate the qi (or energy) within your body. Qi flows through a series of channels or meridians and the acupuncture points along those channels help restore balance to that flow. For those sensitive to needles, there are other options including acupressure and the use of non-insertive tools.
-
bodywork
Bodywork offered includes craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, visceral manipulation, and other gentle techniques. Each of these modalities involves deep listening to the fascia and tissue in the body, helping it to unwind and return to a balanced state and rhythm.
-
cupping
Cupping is the application of suction to an area using glass or plastic cups. It provides gentle pressure to help relieve tension in the muscles and fascia and increases blood flow to the area.
-
herbal medicine
Chinese herbal medicine works synergistically with acupuncture. Formulas are selected to address patterns of imbalance in the body. Formulas are generally taken in the form of a tea, but can also be taken as capsules or pills. For some conditions, topical applications of patches or soaks work best.
Concerns we treat include:
Acute and chronic pain (such as headaches, back pain, and menstrual cramps)
Adjunctive care to cancer treatment
Anxiety and depression
Digestive issues
Insomnia and sleep struggles
Post-accident or surgery recovery
Pregnancy support and labor preparation
Stress management

Things to know for your visit…
Time:
New patient visits are 75 minutes to allow for time to learn about you and your life.
Follow-up visits are 60 minutes.
I will typically be in the room the entire visit, as we weave together different modalities best suited to you. You can expect to have needles in for 15-30 minutes with some form of bodywork or cupping before, during, or after the needles are inserted. This is different from a group acupuncture setting or a setting where you are left alone for 20 minutes with the needles.
Clothing:
It is best to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing for your appointment. You will want to wear clothing that can be easily pulled up above the elbows and knees. If we need to access other parts of your body, you will be given privacy to undress to your comfort level and sheets to drape over yourself.
Insurance:
I am currently in-network with:
Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oregon
Providence Health Plan
Kaiser Permanente
If I am not in-network with your health insurance plan, you may have out-of-network benefits that we can check on. If you do not have out-of-network benefits for acupuncture, I can print a “superbill” for you to submit to your health insurance provider to potentially cover out-of-pocket/out-of-network expenses. Health insurance plans vary widely in terms of what is covered, what they require you to pay, and how they reimburse providers. I encourage you to get to know your insurance plan!
If you have had a motor vehicle accident or injury at work, I am able to bill auto insurance and worker’s compensation.
I am able to accept payment with HSA cards and some FSA cards.
Fees:
If you do not have acupuncture coverage or you prefer to pay out of pocket, I offer a “time-of-service” discount. It is important to me to make care as accessible as I can, so please reach out if you have financial concerns.
